Escape the city for a 2-night stay in the historical gold prospecting town of Kalgoorlie and a visit to the world-renowned Lake Ballard. Along the way discover little known sites significant to the Gold Rush era.
On the middle day we take a trip out to Lake Ballard, home to the major international art project “Inside Australia” featuring 51 strikingly beautiful metal statues placed in the lake’s bed creating an unforgettably picturesque scene. The day out also includes a stop at the historic town of Menzies, one of the few surviving towns of the Gold Rush era and then onto the Broad Arrow Tavern, surrounded by remnants of a once-thriving gold mining community and
exuding a certain outback romantic charm.
Of course a trip out to Kalgoorlie is not complete without a visit to Western Australia’s only legalised Two-Up School,
in its original corrugated iron shed and bush ring is a must see while in the Goldfields, and the Super Pit Lookout, providing an opportunity to view a working mine site in action, is one of Kalgoorlie’s most popular attractions.
